Whitecliffe College of Art and Design MFA Fashion Sustainability present The True Cost
Monday, May 2, 2016, 6pm
Whitecliffe College of Art and Design, Auckland, New Zealand
At the beginning of this year, Whitecliffe launched a new programme in Fashion and Sustainability within our current Master of Fine Arts. The programme offers postgraduate opportunities for Fashion Designers who wish to focus on ethical and sustainable fashion practices. We have four 2016 MFA Fashion and Sustainability students who are committed to sustainability in fashion and who are also all trying to raise funds to support their participation in the Youth Fashion Summit, in Copenhagen this May.
To help fund this trip we are holding a screening of the documentary The TRUE COST which investigates the environmental impact of current manufacturing practices, within the international fashion industry. With a focus on social responsibility, ethical treatment of factory workers, the use of sustainable and organic materials, disuse of harmful chemicals and dyes and reduction of textile waste, a sustainable industry can be obtained.
This film provides an opportunity to see what is actually happening globally and to support our young designers and future innovators.
